Surplus Sales Outlet started and stayed local. We are well known as the “old fashioned mom & pop shop”. We’ve remained family-owned and operated by the same family, including the 2nd generation for 20 years & counting.
Thriving to stay in the new age, we started our original location just up the street at 6001E Truman Rd at Truman & White, commonly known as “the old Sams building”. It had more of a super flea feel, with several shops featuring a wide variety of products. Eventually over time they slowly moved out giving us the opportunity to fill in the space and expand out product line offerings. And oh did Pops know how to do it. His longest running motto was “I can put 10 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound bag”.
Then his mission was “anything I can get cheap & can sell for a good deal”. Before we knew it, every customer was asking for Bill. And of course, that’s how it turned into a “Surplus Sale”, instead of SOS. He has always said he did this to make a living, not to get rich. Slowly over time, our product line has increased drastically in selection, as well as demand.
We continue to stay local and are determined to be the “Best Of The Midwest” by offering great products at amazing prices.
